So will O'Brien be in rookie camp or not? If he ends up missing it over money thats going to be pretty disappointing.

I seriously doubt it. Pretty much the norm here.

Its the NCAA rules that are draconian and frankly ridiculous.

No, he won't be in camp. Blame the NCAA rules, not him. He would have to obtain permission from Penticon to miss the first two games of the regular season and 100 pct pay his own way on top of it. Flyers couldn't so much as feed him without him jeopardizing his NCAA eligibility.

Think about it. He's got 0% chance of winning a contract or an NHL job, and that's what most guys are there for. He's NCAA bound 100%, 2021 for the Flyers at the earliest. So what's the point of him shelling out $$$ from his own pocket to attend this camp now?

Exactly. Doesn't make sense for him to be there. He's better off focusing on where he is going to play this season.

I like it.

Both players are happy with deals both teams can make.

And by 'make' I mean the Flyers make room as necessary to do it.

If they don't have money for Marner why would they trade for another guy seeking a massive contract whose willing to hold out over it?

It's hard to even make a Marner deal work on our end with the cap room we don't have. Would probably need to be Ghost, TK and whatever else it takes to get the deal done.

Talking about O’Brien, I noticed the Vees have played 6 exhibition games already. He is the only player on the roster not to have played in any of them. What’s up with that? Injured again?

Can’t see Marner being traded, they’ll make him sit before they make a bad/poorish deal imo.

I could see teams swapping some of these holdouts... but if Dubas put Marner on the block, he could get a better player than Provorov 1 for 1.

But if they aren't willing to give a player like Marner a huge contract why would they want to give one to Provy?

I guess it depends on what you define as huge.

That's not correct. He piled up the points in the preseason.
